After recent discussions at both Scunthorpe Anchor and Cleethorpes recent committee meetings it has been decided that we are going to

wind down the formation of CASA for the present time. It has been a difficult decision for both clubs but currently neither club appears

to be reaping the benefits that we did when the partnership was originally formed. However we will be continuing with the Junior

League until the end of the season as we are obviously part waythrough this event.

Both clubs would like to continue the partnership to some extent and should we need to train at each others pools in the event of any

problems with our own etc this will still take place. We are also very hopeful that in the future we may be able to arrange and host an Open

Meet together at the new PODS centre opening shortly in Scunthorpe.

It was also suggested at both meetings that although this is how things are at the moment, the situation will be re-assessed on a regular basis and that this is by no means the end of CASA as a joint venture.

Hopefully our individual clubs, coaches and committee will continue to work together to some extent both now and in the future.

Scunthorpe Anchor Swimming Club committee would like to announce that as from January 2007 we have taken the decision to join forces with Cleethorpes and District Swimming club to compete at Counties, Districts, Nationals, Lincs Junior League and Speedo League competitions.  For these competitions we will swim under the CASA Logo.

We have taken this decision to allow swimmers from both clubs the opportunity to compete against some of the larger clubs in the country.

The name of the new club will be Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe Aquatics therefore neither club is seen to be taking over the other, or losing its own identity.  We know that this has happened with other Clubs in the past and it is not what either club committee would wish for. The design of the logo has taken into account the two clubs 'colours' and the jigsaw designs show the clubs coming together. Swimmers have been registered to swim with each club, CADS, Scunthorpe and CASA.

Dave Leeman Head Coach of Scunthorpe will also be sending over the swimmers he feels will benefit from extra training with Cleethorpes top squad. The swimmers from Scunthorpe who are accessing extra sessions with CADS must be attending all the sessions at Scunthorpe before they can attend any CADS sessions.  It is important to realise that these sessions will be a top up to their training not an alternative.

Cleethorpes & Scunthorpe are both Swim 21 Accredited Clubs and an important part of Swim 21 is Partnerships - we hope the joint venture can only strengthen each club and offer their swimmers the opportunity to compete at the highest level possible.
