Scunthorpe Anchor Swimming Club ended the swimming season on a high when 19 of
their swimmers attended the Kingston Upon Hull End of Season Meet and swam a
total of 63 personal best times between them.

Michael Trueman (12), Ryan Johnson (13) and Kieran Skinner (15) started the day for Scunthorpe Anchor with a positive attitude in the 100m backstroke event where each achieved personal best times, plus Ryan brought home the bronze medal and Kieran the gold in their age groups. This proved to be just the beginning for a very successful weekend for Scunthorpe Anchor where each swimmer gave their all and reaped the benefits. The boys age 12/13yr 50m freestyle event resulted in four of the top six places awarded to Scunthorpe Anchor swimmers where Charles Kenny (13), Ryan Johnson (13), Edward Kenny (13) and Michael Trueman (12) took 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th places respectfully.
The boys’ success continued in the 200m freestyle where Scott Strong (16) took gold, Kieran Skinner (15) took silver, Travis Johnson (10) took 4th place medal, knocking 14sec off his personal best time. Also William East (10), Adam Vaughan (14), Michael Trueman (12), Edward Kenny (13), Charles Kenny (13) all swam personal best times in this event.
Not to
be out swam by the boys Scunthorpe Anchor girls also kept on adding to the
personal best total for the club over the course of the weekend. India Cowell
(10), Amy Baker (11), Jessica Skinn (12), Eleanor Chafer (13), Becci Foster
(14), Molly Newton (15), Shannon Johnson (16) and Rhiannon Haber (17) all
swam in the 200m IM event where each girl swam fantastic times and Rhiannon was
rewarded with a gold medal in her age group.

Swimming
in three 50m events Lauren Jacklin (9) brought home a medal in each,
silver for backstroke and bronze for breaststroke and butterfly. Each event
entered continued to achieve personal best times for Anchor swimmers and many
bringing home medals too. Lauren Callaghan (13) and Eleanor Chafer
(13) found themselves in the same heat for the 100m breaststroke which
resulted in both girls swimming neck and neck right up to the finish line and
both gaining personal best times with just 0.29sec between them. Not for the
faint hearted three of the girls swam in the 200m butterfly with Becci Foster
(14) bringing home a
bronze
medal to add to the Scunthorpe Anchor total which was 34 by the end of the
weekend.
Kieran Skinner and Rhiannon Haber were both rewarded for their success over the weekend with Top Male and Top Female trophies in their age groups. Between them they had achieved six 1st places, seven 2nd places and five 3rd places. Congratulations to all swimmers who took part in this event and may your success continue in the new season ahead!
