Junior League Final - The Pods, Scunthorpe 10th Sept 2011

Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe
Aquatics held their first gala at the Pods on Saturday 10th September. The club
has trained regularly at the new venue since it opened but to be holding our
first event was an exciting time for us all. The gala was the final of the
Lincolnshire Junior League and we knew that we would have to work extremely hard
as currently Lincoln Vulcans and ourselves were in joint 1st place. The winners
would be going through to the Northern Area final in Newcastle, a very
prestigious event and a massive achievement should we win. CASA swimmers were
off to a great start with numerous
first places and with swimmers also swimming up in to the next age group
achieving 2nd places we started to wonder at the half way point were we going to
be the new champions ? Amy Baker swam to a new pb in her individual
backcrawl with team mate Lauren Gwynne successfully swimming two new pb's
in her individual breaststroke and butterfly events earning her a much deserved
1st place finish in the breastroke. Younger swimmer Lauren Jacklin swam
a closely fought breaststroke and her hard work paid off with another 1st place
for the team. So the girls had shown some fantastic results in their individual
swims so could the boys continue our successes and help us strive forward to be
the champions ? Lee Parrott was first to swim and had a fantastic swim
in the backcrawl and yet another 1st place finish. Nathan East swam a
magnificent freestyle and alongside his 1st place a great pb. Liam
Stillyards and Jonathan Manchester who are relatively new swimmers in
gala events both swam two individual races and four pb's between them shows how
their dedication to training has paid off. Travis Johnson, Finley Fox and
Ben Cantrill also swam for their respective age groups adding to the
points tally which by now was accumulating well.
The final events of the
evening saw the relays which yet again saw us earning maximum points and finally
the mixed cannon which was an exciting finish and closely fought by all teams
involved. As the excitement built all teams were wondering who would be crowned
champions and as it flashed up on the new electronic scoreboard at The Pods we
were delighted to be the winners.

Final points on the night were as follows:
| CLUB | POINTS |
| CASA "A" | 237 |
| Lincoln Vulcans | 212 |
| Louth | 168 |
| Gainsborough Dolphins | 151 |
