Events

The annual club championships took part at the end of November.  We had some fantastic swims with massive PB’s and a number of club records.  A full report has been sent to the Scunthorpe Telegraph and also published on the website.

General Information

The lucky winner of the final 100 club draw was Daniel Strong.  As mentioned previously this also concludes the 100 club as unfortunately it was no longer raising any funds for the club due to a decrease in numbers.

Normal swimming sessions have recommenced following the reduced training sessions during the winter  break.  Dave has asked that all swimmers are on poolside leaving enough time to complete poolside warm up exercises before the sessions starts. The exercises have been  listed under General Information for your perusal.  Any swimmers who may need to refer to the exercise sheet during warm up could possibly copy and laminate them to bring along to the session.

Many thanks to all parents with the prompt amendment of all monthly standing order fees following the recent letters that were issued regarding fees.  Annual ASA membership is currently been completed and Mark Skinner, Membership Secretary is currently handing out forms to be checked and returned to him.

Some time ago letters were forwarded to various supermarkets enquiring about a bag pack to raise club funds.  Unfortunately we were unsuccessful but letters are to be sent again shortly and hopefully this time we will be successful.

The annual AGM took place early December and the committee are delighted to announce that we now have a number of new helpers/committee members to help assist the smooth running of the club.  Andy Snowden, also took the decision to stand down as chairman for the club after a number of years doing a magnificent job at this role.  The committee members were sorry to see Andy leave but due to other commitments he decided that the time had come to let somebody else takeover the role.  The new committee members will be updated onto the website shortly.

The qualifying times for all major events in 2011, counties, districts and nationals are all available on the website using the following link.(General Information)

Lauren York has been participating in triathalons throughout the last year and has fantastic success finishing in pole postion on numerous occasions.  A report that was printed in the press can be read using the following link.  Well done Lauren on your massive achievements.

Forthcoming Events

The annual club champs presentation night takes place on 15th January at Brumby Hall Social Club.   It should be a fun night for everyone to get together and socialise in a different environment so please try to come along. Tickets are priced at just £2 including entry to the raffle and can be purchased from the pool.  Please see Zoe Newton or Stuart Williams.  If anyone has any raffle prizes they would like to donate they would be gratefully received.

We have a high number of swimmers competing at the Rotherham Metro Open Meet on the 22nd/23rd January.  The following weekend sees the first round of the Lincolnshire Senior League for which the venue is yet to be confirmed.

Another forthcoming events that deserves a mention is The Pods which will be opening this year.  Discussions are taking place with council staff to discuss training sessions been held there but another matter been discussed is us holding an open meet at the pool to be tied in with the opening of the centre.  This will obviously be a major event for the club to host and details will be posted as and when they happen throughout the next few months.
