Events

13 swimmers travelled to Knottingley for the Barnsley Minor Open meet on 6th November.   The event consists of 50 metre short course swims in each stroke and is always a popular meet. Of the 13 swimmers we took part in 19 finals and achieved a massive 42 P.B,s  with Ryan Johnson and Nathan East achieving P.B’s in all their swims. Ben Cantrill swimming finals in all of his events achieving two 2nd place finishes and one 3rd.  Finley Fox continued to knock off seconds and also took part in three finals achieving two bronze medals.  Lauren Gwynne swam through to the finals in all four of her events and took home two silver medals.  Ryan Johnson also kept Anchors place in the finals also taking part in all four and for him two silvers and a bronze, also a massive three second P.B for him in the 50 fly with a new time of 35.51.  Charles Kenny also swam in two finals and achieved two silver medals, he achieved two new P.B’s, one in the 50 free with a very impressive time of 31.26 and another in the 50 back knocking a massive 2.48 seconds of his previous time.  Scott Strong and Adam Vaughan also competed in the finals with a P.B for Scott in the 50 free with an incredible 27.51 and for Adam a P.B in the 50 breast of 40.73.  Special mentions too to Jess Skinn, Ellie Taylor, Edward Kenny and Ellie Chafer who all achieved P.B’s of between two and four seconds.

The 13th November saw the 2nd round of the National Arena League which also coincided with round 2 of our gala run alongside this event.  Our gala was hosted at Riddings pool and was a very successful gala and some fantastic swims.  As mentioned before the decision to host this gala was made by the committee to allow all swimmers to be given the opportunity to swim and was deemed to be a huge success and will therefore be carried forward to 2011.
