Events

The 12th September saw the final round of the Lincs Junior League with both CASA A & B competing.  The A team were the first to swim on the day with the gala being held at Riddings Pool.  We had some great individual performances with Nathan East achieving 2 P.B’s with his individual back and breast races, knocking a massive 6 seconds off his previous 25m breast time.  Lauren Gwynne was to also gain two new P.B’s in her two individual races, 25m back and breast and earning her 1st place in the backstroke.  New P.B’s also fell to William East (25 Back) and Ryan Johnson (50 Breast).  First places in their races after two brilliant swims went to Axel Schygiol (50 fly) and Finley Fox (25 fly).  We also had some great swims in the relay events with the 12U girls coming first in both the free and medley relay, well done Hannah Mayall who was part of this team alongside some other swimmers from Cleethorpes.

Head Coach Dave then made the journey over to Lincoln to join the B team who were competing against Trenton Dolphins, Louth, Lincoln Vulcans A and Grantham.  The atmosphere was tense as we knew that last year we had finished top of the league which had seen us travel to Liverpool for the Northern Final.  We knew that from previous rounds Lincoln Vulcans wouldn’t want this to happen again and were certainly going to field a strong team.  We started the proceedings with relay events,  the 12U girls started with their medley relay and Caitlin  swam the breaststroke leg with a split P.B and bringing us back into the lead against the Vulcans girls.  We were pipped to the finish though and finished in 2nd place.  The 12U boys with Josh Jones finished in 1st place by almost half a length from the rest of the field.  The 10U boys with Scott Zimmerman overtook Louth in the final leg to finish 2ndBryony Bower and Scott Zimmerman finished a close 2nd in the 10U 50 breast  and after twelve events we were in 2nd place, just 10 points behind Lincoln Vulcans.  Holly Williams and Jack Newton both gained new P.B’s in the 12U 50 fly with 37.45 and 37.50 respectively, and a 2nd place finish for Holly.  Josh Jones swam a fantastic 50 breast finishing in 1st place and with a new  P.B of 37.36.  We had lots of impressive swims with 16 P.B’s and we were to finish in 2nd place to Lincoln Vulcans.

A report for the Junior League will be submitted to the Telegraph.

The final weekend of September saw swimmers travel to Edlington for the final round of the Barnsley Minors League.  We had some fantastic swims and achieved four first places in the individual races by Hannah Mayall, Yasmin Callaghan, Scott Zimmerman and Adam Vaughan with each achieving new P.B’s also.  It was a good day for P.B’s with a further 11 more being achieved.  The relays also proved to be a strong event for us over all age categories with 7 1st places, and 5 2nd places from 17 races.  The final result saw us finish in 2nd place overall to Barnsley with Knottingley 3rd and final place to home team Edlington.  If anyone who attended this gala would like to submit a report for the Telegraph please email it to me z.newton@ntlworld.com.  Many thanks.
