Events

The first two weekends of June saw seven swimmers taking part in the ASANER District Championships.  A report can be viewed using the following Link and this has also been forwarded to the Telegraph.

The last weekend of June saw a busy weekend for a lot of swimmers with the final of the Lincs Senior League at Lincoln on the Saturday evening followed by the Club Sprints on the Sunday afternoon at Riddings pool.  The Senior League gala as in previous rounds saw some fantastic swims by our swimmers and some new P.B’s which included Josh Jones (100 free, 100 breast), Finley Fox (50 back 37.7), Holly Williams (50 back 36.6), Bryony Bower (50 breast 43.65), Caitlin Bower (100 breast 1.21.43), Eleanor Chafer (50 free).  Besides the P.B’s there were lots of other notable performances which led the team to our 3rd place finish, which was a very worthy position behind Lincoln Vulcans A team and CASA red.

The following afternoon saw our annual club sprints and for some swimmers their first taste at competitive racing.  It was a busy afternoon with a good turn out despite the important football match also taking place (although it has to be said that looking across at the stands at 3 o clock it comprised of lots of mums only !! ).  We had 63 swimmers taking part ranging this year from ages eight to forty eight.  Medals were given out on the day and there were some nail biting heats with brilliant performances by all those taking part.  A further report is being compiled and the website will be updated once I have completed it.

General Information

The winner of the 100 club for June was Neil Pettit.

A massive well done to Jasmin Kirk and Rhiannon Haber who completed their Level 1 Coaching exams and have now received notification that they have passed.   A fantastic achievement to both girls who currently spend a lot of time poolside helping with the Tuesday/Thursday and 1.30 Sunday sessions.

I am pleased to report that we have had two articles published in the Telegraph.  Both reports that were mentioned in last month’s newsletter made it to print and for anybody who missed them they can be found using the Articles Link.

Dave has handed out entry forms for the BOSSS Open Meet to be held in October at Leeds and would be grateful if they could be returned as soon as possible to try and ensure entry for everyone. See Events page for further details

The summer training schedule comes into effect for the month of August and will see us swimming Monday, Wednesday and Friday only with mixed squads on Wednesday and Friday.  Saturday morning sessions for those swimmers who attend will see the last session on Saturday 24th July and will not recommence until Saturday September 4th.  A full table of the changes is available using the following Link.

Unfortunately we have not yet been able to arrange a Sprints Presentation night and it looks set now to be held in September at the very earliest.

I am in the process of drafting a letter to the local supermarkets requesting their permission for us to hold a bag pack to raise funds for the club and will update the website when I have any further information.

Club records will be updated once the Rotherham Short Course Meet is complete.  Anyone wishing to check P.B’s before the Meet they are now up to date.
